Pune: If you are tired of being fleeced by estate agents and property lawyers while making leave & license agreements, here is some good news. The department of Registration and Stamp has started an online initiative where agreements, including digital photographs, will be put up on a website. This move will do away with middlemen. But, only those with a Aadhar card can use this service as the registration requires a thumb impression.
Approximately, 700-800 tenancy agreements are filed on a daily basis in Pune city. Officials said one of the foremost benefit for end-users will be the monetary gain as people will pay the exact amount of registration and stamping fees, sans ‘consultation’ charges. The current procedure mandates that leave and licence agreements are to be submitted to the area sub-register office, and a copy for police verification.
Shrikar Pardeshi, Inspector General of Registration (IGR) and Controller of Stamps said, “Citizens face issues such as high lawyer fees, consulting agents, bringing two witnesses along and waiting in queues, apart from the time and effort in locating sub-register offices. Hence, we came up with the idea of e-registration and e-filing.”
